2006 Activities

This past fall the Colorado HEARTH Fund was meeting with parents and families across the state. We were presenting the opportunities the HEARTH Fund gives all of us to be more effective in electing the best candidates for state offices.

And this process has continued: most recenlty, the Colorado HEARTH Fund played a role in the Homeschool Day at the Capital. Homeschool families from across the state gathered to visit and encourage each other, learn more about how we are, and will continue, to impact our communities, and heard from many of our leaders in the homeschool effort.

Members of the Colorado homeschooling community and the HEARTH Fund were in attendance at the local Precinct Caucuses across the state in March 2006. Our presence has changed the course of politics in many of those caucuses, and many homeschool representatives were chosen to attend the various assemblies as delegates to further our influence. This is where the impact of the Colorado HEARTH Fund has so far been most greatly felt.

And perhaps of critical significance, the values held by homeschool families have seen an impact in petition drives in favor of a Marriage Amendment to the Colorado State Constitution, and most recenlty, a new effort to push forward the "Protecting Colorado Children" initiative to place on the November ballot an amendment to the State Constitution that would prevent civil unions from becoming a part of Colorado law and practice.
