Affie Ellis is the Republican Candidate for the House District 29, which encompasses large portions of Arvada and Westminster.

Affie, a full-blooded Navajo, grew up in Wyoming where she enjoyed the wide open spaces and spending time with her family outdoors. Growing up, she worked in her family's third generation welding shop. The youngest of four children, she was the first in her family to graduate from college.

Upon graduation she went to work for United States Senator Craig Thomas (R-WY) in Washington, DC where she worked as the senior policy advisor on natural resource and American Indian issues. Affie later accepted a position at the United States Department of Interior as the Director of Congressional and Public Affairs for a portion of the Department that worked intensively on American Indian issues.

Although Affie enjoyed working in Washington, DC, she missed living in the open spaces of the West and had always wanted to make Colorado her home. Affie and her husband moved to this great state so she could pursue a law degree at the University of Colorado School of Law. During this time, she has worked in Qwest's legal office and Governor Owens' Office of Legal Counsel.

Affie is married to Dennis Ellis, the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. She is very proud of the fact that her parents recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and that her brother has been married for 30 years and her sister has been married for 25 years. She supports the right of parents to choose the education that best fits the needs of their children.

Affie and her husband attend Spirit of Christ Catholic Community in Arvada.
