Representative David Balmer was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 2004 and now is seeking re-election in the Fall of 2006. He serves on the Business Affairs and Labor Committee and the Homeland Security Committee.
Representative Balmer is a strong supporter of family values and our free enterprise system and continues to win accolades from various pro business and pro family groups. As a conservative, Rep. Balmer will continue to fight tax hikes and ask the hard questions to insure that our tax dollars are spent efficiently.
Since moving to Colorado in 1996, David has been active in his church and various charities. From 1998 to 2006, Representative Balmer served on the Board of Trustees of Warren Village, a non-profit community in central Denver, which houses 93 previously homeless single mothers. He also tutored an elementary school boy for 2 years through the D.U. Bridge Project.
Rep. Balmer served for 3 years on the Accountability Committee for Fox Hollow Elementary School, part of the Cherry Creek School System. He has been active in the Arapahoe County Republican Party, serving on several campaigns including his work as Republican District Captain overseeing 24 precincts.
He was honored with the Denver Business Journal's Forty Under 40 award, which recognizes Denver's top 40 young business leaders. He earned a JD from Wake Forest Law School and a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as various Army training schools. Rep. Balmer and his wife Karen have a 13-year-old daughter, Laura.
