State Representative Ted Harvey represents Colorado House District 43. Harvey is currently the Assistant State House Minority Leader, and also serves on the House Agriculture, Livestock, & Natural Resources Committee and the House Finance Committee.
He was appointed to the Colorado State House of Representatives in 2001. Since that time he has distinguished himself as a leader in the conservative movement in the Colorado legislature.
Harvey has been awarded Legislator of the Year by Colorado Right to Life, "Guardian of the Taxpayer" by the Colorado Union of Tax Payers and Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Business. He is also one of the original founders and Vice Chairman of the Colorado Republican Study Committee (www.rscc.us), an organization dedicated to helping legislators with resources and in-depth analysis of the important issues of the day from a conservative point of view.
Rep. Harvey's political background started with a position in the White House as a staff assistant to President Ronald Reagan. He then went on to a position as the Reading Clerk in the Colorado House of Representatives, the Program Director for the Independence Institute and District Office Manager for Congressman Joel Hefley.
He is currently the owner and President of Metro Funding Corporation, a full-service mortgage lender with offices is Parker, CO and Salt Lake City, Utah, and is also a homeschool father of two. He has been married to his wife Janie for 12 years.
He graduated from the University of Colorado-Denver Graduate School of Public Affairs with an MPA in 1992 after receiving his bachelor's degree from Colorado State University in 1988. He also serves on the state board of Habitat for Humanity of Colorado.
